This is the Michoud Plant in New Orleans. Even after the Apollo Program ended and we had made it to the moon and back safely, there was always some contractor at the plant. I believe the red covers for the Shuttle's fuel tanks were made there. And now NASA has awarded a huge contract to Boeing (my former employer) to build a beautiful space plane called the Ares. But as in all Space endeavors, there are many, many problems. Even though us Boeing folks tested the S-1C perfectly, there were problems to be solved. Some of these pictures are of the inside of the assembly plant where the engines were attached to the tanks of the 1st stage. Now our government has cancelled the Ares Program.
