U.S. MARINE Family

I am so proud of our Marines. We are a 3rd Generation USMC family.

My father-in-law fought on Iwo Jima in WWII and in Korea. He retired from the Corps and at one time was the Senior NCO in the Corps. He is still alive and in his 80s. My husband is a Vietnam Veteran. He was in Chu Lai in 1966 the same year I was working for Boeing at Michoud. Our son is winding up a 20-year career. He is a Marine Corps Aviator. He flew Hueys and fixed-wing aircraft. He has been on deployments all over the world. Our son also received an Air Medal for extraordinary heroism in saving 3 lives at night during a terrible storm over a raging river.
Our family has given an extraordinary amount of devotion to our country.
I am so proud to be a part of this extraordinary family.

  1. Dear Sara,

I came here from Yaro's Blog Mastermind which I just joined today.

First I would like to say THANK YOU! Your whole family ranks right up there with the best in America as far as I am concerned.

What an honor and you all are to be commended. Your family's military service is way beyond First Rate!

I have a feeling we are about the same age and I just missed out on Vietnam because we had new babies. I always felt like I should have done something, so here is how I handled that.

On 9/11 I loaded my van with rescue equipment, rigging equipment, first aid gear, welder, torches, generator, food and water and went to New York City to volunteer as a rescue worker.

I was driven like a moth to the flames, but when I saw the second plane hit and knew it was terrorism, I just had to do SOMETHING!

After four days they put me in charge of a Search and Rescue Dog Team that came from Paris, France.
We did volunteer body recovery for a month.

After that I got hired to work there with my partner for "two guys, for about two weeks."

That turned into me starting a company and being contracted to do subterranean safety work for the contractors and service agencies.

We ended up having about 40 employees there for nine months. Who knew?

I gave my best, my health is now shot but I would do it all over again in a hot minute if the Bastards ever attack us again.

    Stay strong, and Semper Fi!

ps: I believe that this marvelous Space Program Blog has great potential and Yaro will show you how to pump it up.

I'm going to hit it with a bunch of social bookmarking right now.

    Very best regards.

  2. Oh, Dick! Thank you for a wonderful comment. Semper Fi! And thank you for your great service on 9/11 and after. I am writing a book about my fun times on Apollo with the S1-C Stage of the Saturn V. I have gobs of information that the public doesn't know. I am speaking out to many folks, schools and whoever will listen. I have rare video, too. There are no astronauts and no NASA. I am educating folks about the 400,000 that worked for the contractors. We created a miracle and changed the world. I think I am one of 2 gals who were the first to work as aero. engineers and the only ones on Apollo.
I have a word-press blog but don't know what to do with it. Tell Yaro. Thanks!
