Here are 6 guys standing in front of an F-1 Engine. Can you get an idea of the size from this picture?
The first stage of the Saturn V was known as the S-1C Stage. It was the most powerful rocket stage ever built. It was powered by five F-1 engines.
Together these engines generated 7 and a half MILLION pounds of thrust.
I recognize some of the characters in this picture. :o)
Our stage took 2 minutes 30 seconds at 6,000 MPH to reach 38 miles which was out of our atmosphere. Then there was separation and the 2nd stage kicked in. If it weren't for the 1st stage, we would have never made to the Moon. There were 4 stages to the Saturn V. The last or 4th stage boosted our men off the Moon and back to Earth.
It is sad to me that hardly anyone wants to talk about the greatest project in mankind's history. I have some of the most amazing video ever seen about the first and second stages. I have video about the launch of Apollo 11. It brings tears to my eyes to watch our stage bloom with fire.
